The Police help people in the community. Keep us safe, protect us. The police visit countries of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, and Pembrokeshire. It has over a population of 488.000 that has significantly boosted with tourists each year and covers a land mass of over half of Wales. The force was formed in 1968 with the merger of the four countries constabularies. In Aberystwyth, there are 27 police officers (19 men and 8 woman), but that is not counting the sergeants and the inspectors. These are some councils the police work with youth offending team/service, anti-social behaviour officers, licensing officers, community safety partnership, healthy schools, Department of administration and law.
The data protection came into force in 1998. An act to make new provision for the regulation of the processing of information relating to Individuals, including the obtaining, holding, use or disclosure.
The purpose of the police service is to uphold the law fairly and firmly: to prevent crime,to pursue and bring to justice those who break the law, to keep the Queens peace, to protect , help and reassure the community, to be seen to do all this with integrity, common sense and sound judgement.
