The arts centre was founded In the 1970’s when Aberystwyth’s University built the arts centre, there plans were to server the collage, the town and surrounding countries. The first part of building was the concert hall, which opened in 1970. It was designed by Dale Owen of Percy Thomas Partnership. The Arts Centre was awarded the RIBA gold medal for architecture in Wales. In autumn 1972, The second part of the arts centre was completed. It was the theatre that was supposed to be the final part of the Arts Centre and it was finally finished. Over the years of 1975, 1981, 1985, 1986, 2002, 2010 and 2013 more and more companies and festivals, artists an playmakers have come to Aberystwyth Arts Centre to perform and put on plays for the public. A well known company called Arad Goch has worked at the Arts Centre over many years and many times.
